Shaykh Abdurahman Az-Zayla'i Ash-Shafi'i Al-Ash'ari Al-Qadiri's (d.1883)praise of Al-Ghawth Al-Adham

From the manaqib of Shaykh Abdurrahman Az-Zaylai:

"And from his Karamat that was related to me from our Shaykh, Shaykh Abu Bakr Ibn Shaykh Ahmad Haji Mahdi from Shaykh Abdullahi Shaykh Abdurrahman Al-Hasani Al-Qadiri:

Shaykh Nuurow Umar Al-Hasani was a scholar and distributor of knowledge, steadfast upon the Muhammadan Shariah in the rulings of the outer. However, whenever he would see the people of the Sufi way, he would flee from them and he despised them. When he saw Shaykh Abdurrahman Az-Zaylai, he took from him the Ijazah and entered in his Qadiri path. He was asked about this by people who said, 'Shaykh Haji Nuurow! You used to hate the people of Tariqah, and now you've taken the path from Shaykh Abdurrahman Az-Zaylai? How has this happened?'

He responded, 'I took the path from him due to his line in his poem The Driver of Souls:

Az-Zaylai has come to you (ﷺ) seeking gifts,
So that he may receive witnessing from the Generous One!

For he was seeking the station of Witnessing (مقام الشهود), and it is for that reason I took the Ijazah from him...

"... Along with the fact that he accepted what was with us from the knowledge of the outer, and he added to our knowledge of the inward in the Tariqah, may Allah benefit us by him, his knowledge, and secrets, Amin!"

"And from his (Shaykh Abdurrahman Az-Zaylai's) Karamat that was related to me by Shaykh Muhammad Gaawo Ibn Sheegow Al-Barawi Al-Qadiri from his Shaykh Qasim Al-Barawi Al-Qadiri:

Shaykh Abdurrahman Az-Zaylai's رضي الله عنه norm would be to teach 12 different sciences to his Murids and students during his classes, along with completing a khatm of the Quran in the 7 qirat every day, and he would fast during the day and stand in prayer at night constantly, may Allah benefit us with him, his knowledge, and secrets, Ameen."

This is a translation of one of the poems of Shaykh Al-Islam, the reviver of the Qadiri path in the Horn of Africa, the upholder of the Sunnah, the Lover of Mustafa ﷺ, Shaykh Abdurahman Az-Zayla'i As-Somali Ash-Shafi'i Al-Ash'ari Al-Qadiri in praise of Al-Qutb Ar-Rabbani Al-Ghawth As-Samadani Muhyidin Abdulqadir Al-Jaylani:

Our Lord! Our Lord! Our Lord!
Attain our hopes through Al-Ghawth Al-Adham!

Bliss for the students of the noble master,
I mean, the master and Qutb Ghawth Al-Adham!

The Sayid from the two Hasans, the Gray Falcon
Who imitated Taha ﷺ and Haydar in his speech!

He is the one if his name is called,
In difficulty shall save without divination!

A promise he gave, that his Murid shall not die
Except upon repentance from their sins!

And whoever does Tawasul by him,
It shall be fulfilled, even if it be by the Red Sea!

Rather, he did not ever do any act,
Except with permission from his Lord, the Ever-Speaking!

How many of the men of the Unseen purified after him,
Becoming completed due to his divided Faydh!

For him were miraculous wonders before his appearance,
And appeared after his established death!

May Allah send Salawat upon the Prophet Al-Mustafa ﷺ,
and the Household and Companions and every Muslim!

And pardon he who is praised, Abdulqadir -
The great Sultan of all the Awliya!

Along with those who are listening and present,
and those feeding for the sake of the Noble Ghawth!
