Maulana Ilyas Qadri once said that in the past, Ulama were oceans of water and people would queue up at their door, waiting to fill up their vessels. But the situation now is such that the Ulama themselves have to carry vessels of water and knock at the door of people and offer to quench their thirst. That's if one truly possesses Dard e ummat. This mentality is how he was able to bring millions to the Deen. He got beaten up, spat on, he slept on the streets, numerous assassination attempts were made but eventually he was rewarded. Its a difficult path but it's the most tried and tested efficient path too.
bukhari #7061 reported by sayyiduna abu hurayrah raDi'Allahu anhu, and he said: RasulAllah said: time will draw closer (or time will become short) and deeds will be lesser greed will pervade (shuhh may also mean: love of this world) and strife will be prominent and "harj" will become common. they asked: ya RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, what is it (i.e. "harj") and he replied: "killing, killing" ---- killing will become commonplace. people will be killed for no reason either as bystanders or suspected to be adversaries or even upon flimsiest of reasons - because tools to kill will be easily available. Allah ta'ala knows best.
Why is the blame always put on the Deeni people? These laypeople, many of them willingly decide to stray and live a life of heedlessness. Masajid are open, true knowledge is widespread and accessible. Those who seek, truly find what they seek. Who is a bigger priority, the layperson who feels safe in their heedless ignorance, or the confused seeker, seeking closeness to Allah subhanahu wa taala in all his endevours and who truly benefits from the niche and abstract discussions of 'Kalam, Mantiq & philosophy'. I believe protecting the seeker and purifying the path is of higher priority than trying to beg the laypeople.
dawat e islami been doing this. of course, they have some shortcomings, but more or less, this is the objective and operating model of DI and SDI. instead of encouraging them, helping and adopting, many sunnis spend time finding faults (and they have faults). DI have demonstrated that it is possible and have done it in a spectacular manner.
This is also why Ala Hazrat's maslak reigns Supreme in this era that we are living in. He crafted the perfect framework for the most critical of times. He Recognized the Absolutely Desperate times we live in and Ramped up the Barriers to the max. Completely Boycotting Deviants, Harboring Extreme Hatred for the Enemies of Islam, Drowning oneself in the Love of Rasūlallah ﷺ and the awliyā, Maslake ala hazrat is without any doubt the most robust shield for every time and every place
in our times, one need not rely on jumu'ah khutbah alone. basic books of aqidah are translated in various languages. in english, we have: - kitabu'l aqayid of sadrul afadil - bahar shariah first part of sadrush shariah - aqidatul awam by sh. marzuqi --- soon we will have some more in sha'Allah; and there are many translated by others. people can do a 15-30 minute gathering at home - family time - and read these books. any objections in the course raised can be brought here and in sha'Allah, you will find answers. couldn't be made simpler.
Think this may have been discussed on another thread but agreed. It should also be brought up in mawlid gatherings, eid prayer khutbas, the bayaan before taraweeh etc... You can easily go through tahawiyyah in the last ten days of Ramadan if you wanted. Other major misconceptions should be corrected, for example, mentioning tajweed and the changing in meanings, mentioning things like proper way to get divorced etc, no triple talaq, any other major concerns. Especially actions or words that take you out of Islam, giving examples from common TV shows or songs for example to really drive the point home Even if they didn't do it before Friday prayer, they can at least organise a one off class that at least some people would want to attend... Most local masaajid won't even do that. Even if just two people turned up wanting to learn, it's better than nothing. Or the way dawat e Islami does it where they might read through a book after one of the daily prayers... OK, maybe only ten people turn up to pray in the first place and half will leave. But at least someone is learning something. I would just suggest they choose books of greater importance or the imam goes through tahawiyyah etc instead.
Grassroot Dawah, Grassroot Dawah & Grassroot Dawah, this is what we need the most and this is what we neglect the most too. I think a separate thread is needed to address this. Refutation upon Refutations, joshila bayānāt upon joshila bayānāt, highly abstract discussions of Kalam, Mantiq & philosophy, we are kind of trapped within this vicious cycle. All while the average muslim out there is uknowingly losing his eeman or engaging in fisq I think there's a dire need to constantly ground ourselves back to reality so as not to get lost into this dazzling realm of complex scholarly intricacies It seems as if day by day, the intellectual tabqa keeps drifting away into this very niche world of theirs while the awaami tabqa runs even further away in the opposite direction. This gap between them widened to such an extent that both lost touch with each other The Muhaqqiqeen are plenty the Joshila khutaba are countless but the daĪs aka the backbones of our religion are the least in number Adopting good Akhlāq, Meeting people, conversing with them؟ constantly reminding them & giving islahi bayaanat, all these which constituted the core of the spread of Islam are like a lost relic now. Everyone feels "Dard e ummat" but is our energy, ilm and passion being directed towards the top priority? are we yielding the most optimal result out of these?
bukhari, 5231 RasulAllah sallALlahu alayhi wa sallam said: indeed, among the portents of the Final Hour is that: knowledge will be taken away (depleted, decrease by death of ulama) ignorance will be widespread fornication and adultery will be plenty (and commonplace) and more people (i.e. muslims) will drink wine men will decrease in number and women will increase, so much so that there will be fifty women for a single man (i.e. the male-female ratio).* * this can also be because of wars and men getting killed leaving behind widows. also, it may not mean that it will be global figure - the hadith is validated if it holds true for one region. for example in the recent gaza genocide, one study puts the following figures of casualities - look at the number of men and women: https://www.washingtoninstitute.org/sites/default/files/pdf/PolicyNote158Epsteinv3.pdf
tirmidhi, #2210 reported by sayyiduna ali ibn abi talib raDi'Allahu anhu: RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: when my ummah commits fifteen things, then calamity becomes inevitable. he was asked: what are those ya RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam? he replied: when public property is treated as private property (or wealth is circulated only among the rich) and trusts misappropriated zakat treated as a tax (people are reluctant and grudgingly pay it) a man will obey his wife and disobey his mother (to the point of hurting her) he will be good to his friends, and be estranged from his own father (and will neglect him) sounds will be raised in the masjids the chief of the community will be the most despicable and vile (ardhaluhum; radheel=depraved, vile, villain, morally base) and men will be honoured fearing their evil (i.e. fearing reprisal if they are not respected; hadith word uses singular 'man') wine will be drunk and silk will be worn (both are haram) singing women and music will be celebrated (wa't-tukhidhat= lit. taken, given prominence; i have translated according to the reality of our times) the later ones of this ummah will curse the ancients (like the rawafidh and the wahabis) and in this time, look out for red winds or the earth collapsing and disfiguration (perhaps due to chemical weapons)

hadith of tirmidhi, #2211 narrated by abu hurayrah raDi'Allahu anhu RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: when the wealth will remain among the rich,* and people will consider trust as their private property, and when zakat is seen as a tax. when knowledge is gained for other than religion** a man will obey his wife but disobey his mother and keep his friends close while being distant from his own father and noises will be heard in masjid*** the leader of every tribe will be a transgressor, flagrant sinner (fasiq) and the leader of the community will be the biggest scoundrel (ardhaluhum; radheel=scoundrel, one with low morals) a man will be respected fearing his retribution**** and when female singers and music will become widespread (lit. DHaharat=appear) and wine will be drunk and the later ones of this nation will curse the early muslims then watch for: red winds (nuclear winter caused by nuclear bombs) and earthquakes and cave-ins and the earth collapsing (sinkholes, landslides) and disfiguration (perhaps due to destructive, new age biological weapons) and stones raining from the sky (qadhaf; can also mean aerial bombing) and signs that follow one after another, similar to a string of (pearls) when broken, the pearls tumble one after another. ----- *in mirqat (summarised): among many meanings, fayy means spoils of war; diwala or duwala means changing hands, circulate. turpushti in his explanation said: 'this means that the rich will share the wealth and circulate among themselves and ignore the needs of the poor' **li-ghayri'd din: either they will learn religious knowledge for not-religious purposes, such as gaining wealth and fame. OR they will spend their lives learning things that is not related to religion. we see both forms in our time. learning religious knowledge is the last priority of most muslims today. their first priority is to make money. including those people who are well-off and affluent. they will spend hours on how to multiply their millions, but do not have time to seek religious knowledge and improve. laa Hawla wa laa quwwata illa billah. ***these days one can hear music and songs (as ringtones) right in the middle of the jama'at. apart from people loitering around in the masjid talking about everything including business and movies and games and gheebah of other people. nas'alu Allah al-aafiyah **** not respected for his worth, his learning or virtues. rather they fear that he will harm them if they don't respect him. politicians, influential people, wealthy folk who openly commit sins and no one dares stop them or criticise them.
Sorry to divert the thread. I tend to be simplistic at times, but can someone explain to me why basic aqidah can't be taught at juma when 80% of Muslims are present?
In fact, I believe it's even worse... I think a significant percentage of people have beliefs that are kufr or have said statements which are kufr etc. I've spoken to multiple people in the recent couple of weeks who believe Jews and Christians will find salvation, for example... And this was completely at random too. I've met people who are unsure whether Allah is present in the universe (hulool). In fact, that's a fairly common question that gets asked... And it only gets asked because the questioner genuinely doesn't know what to believe. How many people will sing songs with lyrics of kufr or laugh at kufri jokes when watching stand up comedy etc...
Fasiq refers to open sinner. One who sins publicly. Now, the ulama here can comment but Mufti Akmal said, those stricter ahkam were for times past when most prayed. Today, most don't pray so if you were to boycott them, it'll be a problem.
From trimming the beard, to wasting water publicly in the wuzu khāna, to not knowing/learning the fardh ulūm, making harām jokes, backbiting and lying publicly among freinds and frequently missing Salah in jamā'ah, All these are rampant acts of Fisq. So from a practical point of view, does this mean that in today's age 90% of muslims are fussāq? Does befriending them entail "honoring a fāsiq" and thus a sin?
